Please note; It's important that we inform you about the limitations of home remedies and the importance of seeking professional veterinary treatment. I am not a vet and do not have any veterinary qualifications. Any home remedies offered on this site are not intended to offer a cure or replace veterinary treatment, but may alleviate symptoms where professional support is not easily available. The suggestions are based on research of credible sources of information including veterans and government related bodies. Where possible we recommend that a consultation with a vet is sort in the first instance when making decisions about your chicken’s health.
In the interests of openness and transparency, I am not a vet and do not have any veterinary qualifications.
However, we are living in a time where, unlike keeping other types of animals, chicken keepers ordinarily find it is up to them to provide medical care for sick or injured birds.
Vets rarely receive extensive poultry training, and if they get any, it’s minimal at best―even farm vets rarely see chickens. Many vets that advertise as treating backyard chickens, when approached have a limited working knowledge. Chicken anatomy and physiology are different from other birds; even most avian veterinarians aren’t trained to treat chickens.
